I’m not sure how many times that I’ve written that the weekend at Journey Church International was our best ever, but this time, it really was…Seriously! 21 Baptisms, several people prayed to receive Jesus as their Savior, and hundreds of our volunteers spent Sunday evening together at “Paradise Park”, our local “Chucky Cheese on Steriods”. We called it our “Volunteer Appreciation Carnival”, and not even a tornado on the ground a few miles from our venue during the event kept people away! 5 quick thoughts to recap the day:
1. You are not Your Past:
God really moved on people’s hearts during our message on “Shame” Sunday. You can watch it here: http://takethejourney.sermon.net/dv/119909834/play or listen to it here: http://takethejourney.sermon.net/da/119909834/play. If you’re under 40, you’re sure to catch the “Sir Mix-a-Lot” reference about halfway through.
2. I Have Decided:
21 baptisms Sunday, in the thunder and lightening (anything goes in church-planting, huh?). Nearly all of those baptized became Christians or recommitted their lives to Jesus in the last 7 months at JCI. Thank you Lord for allowing people to find you at our church! The stories told by these people were simply AMAZING. I hope you heard some of them.
3. Volunteers Rock:
Every time we gather a large group of our volunteers together, I’m shocked at how many people actually serve Jesus at our church. It was our honor to bless them and their families with a night out Sunday night. We could never thank you enough, volunteers. You are all awesome!
4. JCI Staff Rock:
After 2 weeks on the mission field in India and Israel I returned to a perfectly organized, well-oiled ministry machine because of our awesome staff team. And we didn’t lighten up our ministry load because we were away. I returned to discipleship classes, volunteer orientations, Production Team meetings, and major volunteer appreciation events, as well as record-setting attendance numbers in our kids ministries; all w/out a flaw. Good job guys!
5. Mission Possible:
Our church exists to see people far from God become passionate Christians who make a difference in the world. This weekend at our church proved that this is happening! Let’s keep it up and impact our city and world for Jesus!
Mother’s Day at JCI is going to be awesome – hope you can make it!
