Yesterday we kicked off our brand new series on “Marriage” titled “Love, Sex, & Marriage” – and it was an “eye-opening” day as the people in our church began to hear what Biblical marriage is. The day was incredible, and I’m already hearing from couples in our church that have had deep conversations about making great changes to their marriages. You can watch the message here: http://takethejourney.sermon.net/dv/119826183/play or download the audio of the message here: http://takethejourney.sermon.net/da/119826183/play. If you are married – I beg you to take the time this week to watch or listen to this marriage.
Couple thoughts on my mind:
IT WAS COLD:
It was “freezing” Sunday. Less than 10 degrees when we began to set-up our equipment, less than 25 degrees when church began. It was so cold, that I actually wore a coat, a hat, and gloves…which I rarely ever do. YET – there was our parking team, in the freezing cold, greeting people as they drove in. AND – there were our greeters outside on the parking lot, greeting people as they drove in. AND – there was our set-up team, before the sun was up, in -3 degree windchill air, rolling our carts inside and carrying the cold equipment in, and setting up all of our outdoor signs. OUR VOLUNTEERS OUR INCREDIBLE!!! Thank you all.
If you didn’t notice Sunday, our church’s ‘portable cross’ is now complete and was on our stage Sunday. The cross is the most important religious symbol in the world – and it is always good to have it where we can reflect upon it. This year we will have a Good Friday service on Friday, April 6th, where I will teach through the deeper theology of the cross and we will have an extended time of worship, prayer and communion. This will be a 3-hour teaching time (6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.) that will change your life and make you appreciate The Cross more than you do now. Hope you can make it!
Sunday I talked about a young Pastor who’s busy life led to an affair and he subsequently left his church. In listening back to the message this week, I realized I said that his church “crashed and burned”. That is not the case – the church is still going strong under the leadership of a new Pastoral team. I haven’t heard from anybody or been asked to correct this, but I heard it and knew that I misspoke so I wanted to correct it. His letter that I read from his blog really challenged our people and ministered to them, so I wanted to set the record straight on his former church, and let him know that I appreciate his humility to be honest so that other young marriages can be helped.
February is going to be an incredible month at J.C.I. Hope you can make it!
Happy Valentine’s Day this week – love your spouse fully this week.
