As I celebrate Valentine’s Day for the 13th year w/ the love of my life, my best friend Danielle, I am reminded of the moment that I fell in love with her. She was 18, I was 20, and it was the evening before the bus left for my first ever start as a college quarterback at Liberty University (we lost the game unfortunately, like most of the games that I started). I had known Danielle less than 1 week, yet we had spent a few days together and she knew me well enough to know I was nervous for the upcoming game. As we said good-night on the eve of the game, she asked me a question that changed my life. Simply, and sweetly, she asked if she could pray with me. It floored me – this had never happened before. Never had a girl asked to pray for me about something that was bothering me, much less a hot girl! At that moment, literally at that moment, while she began to pray for me, I knew I had to marry her. I had known her for 5 days, but this was all that I needed to know. I had found a girl, that when I was in trouble, would not only pray for me, but would pray with me. It sealed the deal. Four months later I proposed, 9 months later we were married – and the rest is history. Today is our 13th Valentine’s Day together. I’m hoping God gives us many more.
